Despite some pessimistic predictions, IBC2009 managed to exceed expectations with a final attendance figure of 45,547. Representing just a 7% drop on the 2008 figure, this is no mean feat in a year where many other events have been decimated and cancelled. In the run up to the event, the organisers were careful to present IBC as not just a trade show, but as an 'experience.' And they delivered with features such as the new Production Village, the Games arena, the New Technology Campus and emerging media zones, the IBC Awards, Big Screen 3D movies, as well as exhibitor Business Briefings and other free conference sessions.
