News Sony's Version 2 Software for the HDW-750P HDCAM Camcorder Adds Powerful New Film Gamma Characteristic (26/11/2005) Production companies, broadcasters and cinematographers now have even more good reasons to choose the Sony HDW-750P HDCAM camcorder for capturing the highest-quality High Definition (HD) pictures. The popular camcorder's status is now boosted further with a new version of software that improves its ability to acquire and reproduce stunning natural-looking film-like images. Shipping now with all new HDW-750P camcorders - and also with the HDW-730S - the "Version 2" software boosts the camcorder's already impressive performance to meet the demands of the most prestigious High Definition productions. Even better-looking, more film-like images Version 2 software offers a significant boost in the latitude of the camcorder to give a more film-like dynamic transfer characteristic. This allows far more detail to be seen in the highlight and lowlight areas of the image. As well as being shipped with new camcorders, the version 2 software can also be installed into existing HDW-750P and HDW-730S camcorders, protecting the investment of current owners. Other new features provided by version 2 include the ability to remotely switch a connected HDW-S280/1 portable HDCAM VTR to record mode from the camcorder via HD-SDI. "This is the most significant new feature to be added to the HDW-750P since launch, and reinforces its position as the camcorder of choice for programme makers who demand the best in imaging performance," says Peter Sykes, HDCAM Product Manager, Sony Europe. "Since its arrival on the market, the HDW-750P has been associated with the very best in quality programming, helping establish HDCAM as the preferred High Definition format worldwide." HDCAM: The established choice for high-quality High Definition acquisition From mainstream production to prestige projects, HDCAM is firmly established as the de facto choice for High Definition with an installed base of over 20,000 units worldwide. "With more producers and broadcasters now shooting in HDCAM as a matter of course, we are continuing to enhance and strengthen the line-up," adds Sykes. "The HDW-750P is a key model within our HDCAM family and with this new version of software, the arguments for using it to shoot HD are now even stronger." The Sony HDCAM portfolio has been further strengthened this year with other key additions to the line-up. Recent developments include the launch of the 'go anywhere' HDW-S280/1 - a compact HDCAM deck capable of battery or mains operation, and by the addition to 24PsF recording to the HDW-M2000P series Studio VTRs.
