DVS Presents New 4K and JPEG2000 OEM Products at IBC (6/9/2006)

From September 8 to 12, 2006 DVS presents more of its renowned OEM products. The successor of the popular Centaurus(r) board, Centaurus II, will be available after the IBC. DVS adapted the new board to the latest technology and created a PCIe version that grants a higher performance. Centaurus II offers several upgrades, e.g. to 3D LUT or scaling. Since two channels are available on the new board, it provides two independent input and two independent output channels simultaneously. As a special highlight, DVS presents the 4K option of Centaurus II. With this, the German company strengthens its role as a leading-edge pioneer in the 4K field - another DVS product handles the 4K resolution that can be recorded or played out via HSDL.

In Amsterdam another new OEM product will be unveiled by DVS. The new PCI-X board runs real-time compression and decompression of JPEG2000 in SD, HD and 2K. Moreover, it offers AES decryption (Advanced Encryption Standard). DVS developed a complete video board that provides dual-link SDI input and output as well as dual-link DVI output of video together with 16 AES/EBU audio channels. The new board by DVS supports JPEG2000, the future's compression standard that is also specified for digital cinema.

A new SDK version accompanies the OEM products SDStationOEM II, Centaurus II and Centaurus(r). The SDK's independent I/O offers different image formats at in- and output, thereby allowing a more flexible usage of the boards. The upcoming operating system Microsoft Windows(r) Vista is already supported by the OEM products also providing the customers with a future-proof technology. The SDK version 3.0 enables the audio frequencies 44.1, 48 and 96kHz as well as multiple video streams on one card.

Furthermore, the OEM products are compatible to DirectShow(r). DirectShow(r) allows a simple support of the DVS hardware via the Windows(r) standard SDK. All DVS OEM products now offer MPEG compression thereby getting even more interesting for the broadcast business. Compression enables the customer to expand the product's abilities and to use real-time encoding and decoding without further amount of work.

Marcus Goluecke, Product Manager at DVS: "It is a well-known fact in the postproduction and broadcast industry that the DVS products always run solidly and reliably. On top of that our OEM products are always equipped with the newest technology - this can be seen in the real-time compression and decompression of JPEG2000. By supporting MPEG formats we expand the possibilities of the boards' different assignments."
