News Merging's Pyramix and VCube to Feature Final Cut Pro XML (20/9/2006) In what they believe to be a world first, Switzerland's Merging Technologies have announced that their Pyramix digital audio workstation and VCube video recorder/player will now feature Final Cut Pro(tm) XML interchange - making them the first PC-based systems to do so. Like the AAF or OMF interchange formats (both of which were recently fully implemented in Pyramix and VCube), Final Cut Pro(tm) XML interchange enables audio and video clips, clip gain, fades, effect definitions, envelopes and other parameters and work-in-progress to be imported and exported with ease, making for a solid and integrated workflow. Final Cut Pro(tm) XML interchange allows users to move work smoothly between Pyramix, VCube and Final Cut Pro(tm) by importing and exporting entire projects, compositions, and bins. The inclusion of Final Cut Pro(tm) XML further enhances Merging's open-platform philosophy with mainstream third-party DAW and non-linear editing systems. Merging President Claude Cellier explains, "It was clear from customer feedback that Final Cut Pro(tm) XML was a rapidly growing requirement in the professional post-production world. This is especially important within a fully networked environment where the transparency of workflow is paramount between third-party systems. The introduction of Final Cut Pro(tm) XML, together with the AAF and OMF interchange formats, makes Pyramix and VCube the most open systems available, and further contributes to the convergence of the Mac and PC platforms within a fully networked environment".
