News Quantel Launches Marco Standalone, Software-Only Desktop Editing Package (26/9/2006) At IBC Quantel is launching a brand new standalone desktop editing software package for customers who want to use the acclaimed Quantel editing interface away from their main sQ system. Designed to run on standard laptop or desktop PCs, Marco brings the power and versatility of the Quantel editing interface to any desktop. "Since its inception the Quantel edit interface has been widely accepted by both editors and journalists," said John Woodhouse, Broadcast Product Manager at Quantel. "It is easy to learn and use, is scaleable and provides a professional, uncluttered approach for creating news and sports packages. Quantel customers can now use these powerful editing capabilities in locations which are remote from the main sQ system, for example in remote bureaux or in the field for laptop-based reporting. Plus the common editing interface brings huge operational and training advantages." Marco is designed to run as a standalone software application on normal desktop or laptop PCs. Video input and output from Camcorders is via Firewire. Media files can also be exported from Marco for use by store-and-forward applications to send back to base. Marco has options for many of the most popular Quantel editing capabilities such as dissolves, wipes or custom transitions. Likewise the One Shot effects; White Balance, Lift, Gain & Gamma, Size and Blur/Mosaic tracking are available. And for the ultimate in packaging the new Quantel Templating option is available for adding text and graphics.
