Livewire Digital launches M-Link X and waterproof HD cameras (15/9/2008)

Content Creation, Management and Delivery Experts Offer Preview of Flagship Real Time Video Broadcast solution - M-Link X

Livewire Digital, the leading provider of integrated data, voice and video services, today announced that it has chosen IBC 2008 as the arena to launch its real time broadcast solution, `M-Link X', especially suited for those working in remote and hostile locations. Now available for Mac OSX, M-Link X allows reporters in the field to transmit the very latest breaking news directly to the radio, web and TV newsrooms. In addition to this, Livewire Digital will be showcasing the latest range of waterproof HD cameras and microphones; as will be used throughout the 2008-2009 Volvo Ocean Race. Livewire Digital will be at stand OE390 where it will be co-exhibiting with partner M2SAT at the exhibition which takes place in the RAI Centre in Amsterdam, 12-16 September.

Fully compatible with the existing M-Link Exchange receiver, M-Link X gives broadcasters a choice of platforms for their field equipment, without compromising video quality or transmission performance.. They are able to deliver live news flashes, rushes or fully edited pieces to newsrooms. The new M-Link X complements Livewire Digital's M-Link Voyager and IP-Reporter H.264 AVC, currently being used by major broadcasters, governments and field reporters around the world including Reuters, NRK and The Royal Navy.

Also being showcased at IBC is the new range of waterproof HD cameras and microphones which have been specially designed by Livewire Digital Ltd to withstand the rigors of the Volvo Ocean Race. The media specialist, responsible for recording, editing and delivering the dynamic on-board footage for audiences at home, will control the range of cameras and microphones either from a laptop or via the Media Desk HD console. Camera control is also possible remotely via a wireless link. The equipment being exhibited at IBC includes HD roll-compensated day/night cameras and 1080i HD PTZ cameras.

Tristan Wood, Managing Director of Livewire Digital commented: "IBC is the perfect stage to showcase our new offerings to the broadcast market, giving the chance for all attendees to have a sneak preview of our leading video transfer kit ahead of the world famous Volvo Ocean Race, which sets sail on 11th October. It will become apparent to visitors to the exhibition that broadcasters can now enjoy and deliver high quality combined satellite, mobile and IP-networks and share footage with audiences around the world, regardless of location or condition."
