Euphonix Announces New Features for S5 Fusion Digital Audio Mixing System with EuCon DAW Control (13/5/2009)

The S5 Fusion package has been updated with higher DSP channel count and wider range of options

Euphonix, a world leader in large-format digital audio consoles, media controllers, and peripherals announced new options for the S5 Fusion digital audio mixing system package including a new SP663 DSP card for higher channel counts and a wider range of control surface options.

The S5 Fusion Digital Audio Mixing System package with DAW Control was first introduced in 2007 and is derived from the best-selling System 5 series. S5 Fusion is a complete professional mixing package that provides a fusion of Euphonix' new processing DSP engine with EuCon Hybrid, a technology that allows the console surface to control its own DSP channels as well as channels from multiple external DAWs simultaneously - the best of both worlds.

New control surface options allow up to 56 faders, in 5ft, 7ft or 9ft frames, and it is now possible to add the 403 PEC/DIRECT film monitoring modules, and a 402 sub-master central assign module.

The S5 Fusion has a cost-effective and compact back end, combining the studio computer, DSP Cards with MADI I/O, EuCon Hybrid DAW control, machine control and monitoring all in one 6U rack mount unit. The new SP663 DSP cards increase the channel count to over 100 channels at 48Khz and the system can also be run at 96KHz with 50% less channels.

Euphonix CEO, Martin Kloiber explains the upgrades, "The S5 Fusion is becoming increasingly popular for budget minded audio post and music mixing facilities so we decided to offer more options to fit a wider range of applications including the film monitoring panel. The EuCon DAW control is an essential part of the console's success as it allows hundreds of DAW tracks to be controlled from the surface and fed as multi-format stems into the console's DSP for final mix-down using the System 5 automation and monitoring."
