News E-films announce e-MCR Multi Card Reader for Sony PMW-EX1/EX3 series of cameras (19/8/2009) E-films’ e-MCR simplifies transfer and saves valuable editing time. E-films today announce the e-MCR, a four-way ExpressCard/34 USB multi-card reader with integrated high-speed USB hub. The e-MCR allows simultaneous transfer from up to 4 ExpressCard/34 cards and can read any USB-enabled ExpressCard/34 card, like e-films own MxR or e-LCR. Bundled with Imagine Products’ Shotput Pro software, the e-MCR gives users unprecedented flexibility in transferring footage from the Sony PMW-EX1/EX3 series of cameras. The e-MCR allows the user to insert up to four MxR adapters at the same time by running Shotput Pro. Once the user has chosen where to transfer the data to, (up to three locations can be nominated for archive, editing and backup of each cards content), the process begins automatically. At the end of the copy process the user receives a status report. The transfer process can either be either be a high speed copy or a complete byte-for-byte comparison copy, which verifies if the copy is exact or frames have been lost. Ross Herewini, Product Development Manager for E-films says, “One of the great things about tape was, at the end of a long day shooting, all we had to do was log the number of tapes used. Using Memory Cards as a medium, ingest has now been moved from a post task for tape, to a production task, in order to clear the media for the next days shoot.” All the e-MCR requires is the user to run the bundled Shotput Pro software, insert the cards into the e-MCR, and when finished, review the log to verify accurate copying. “The two big advantages of using the e-MCR are that it simplifies the transfer and backing-up of footage and saves the user valuable time every time they edit. Time is the most valuable commodity in any video production”, says Jeromy Young, Business Development Manager for E-films. The e-MCR retails at $199 USD and will be available from E-films distributors, resellers and online retailers in all parts of the world.
