News Vislink announces Deep Interleaving Feature for Link wireless camera systems (28/8/2009) When deployed for motorcycle uplinks at this year’s London Marathon Deep Interleaving virtually eliminated picture loss caused by RF signal path obstructions. Vislink News and Entertainment is announcing the availability of the Deep Interleaving upgrade for its range of Link Research wireless camera systems. This advanced interleaving technology can compensate for transmission disruptions of up to 4 seconds in duration, and includes instantaneous relocking once the signal is restored. The Operator may enable or disable this feature and is given full control over adjustments to Forward Error Correction and Burst Error Tolerance levels. Deep interleaving greatly enhances coverage of fast paced sports events – such as motor sports and bicycle races – where bridges, trees and other obstructions frequently block the transmitter to receiver signal path. Other key applications include “eye in the sky” helicopter news coverage and stadium based sports. Deep Interleaving is available immediately as an option for Link’s XPu vehicle on-board and the new XPc mini transmitter, and will be available for the L1500 and L1600 transmitters in the near future. Current users may purchase Deep Interleaving as an upgrade software licence. ”We carefully researched broadcaster needs before developing Deep Interleaving”, said Ben McLeod, Managing Director of Vislink News and Entertainment. “Third party offerings simply could not deliver the buffer depth, instantaneous relocking and performance that this Link technology provides”. Vislink introduced Deep Interleaving at the 2009 London Marathon, where SIS LIVE used it for disruption free coverage using a motorcycle mounted camera over the 26 mile course. It has since proven its value at the Los Angeles Marathon and in live on-board coverage at the Le Mans 24h race. Vislink News and Entertainment will be demonstrating Link’s Deep Interleaving technology at IBC, stand no 1.A61.
