News Merging Technologies Adds Dolby E Workflow to Pyramix with Minnetonka’s SurCode for Dolby E Encoder plug-in (28/8/2009) Users of Merging Technologies’ Pyramix workstation may now work directly with Dolby E-encoded audio files, thanks to the release of updated VST plug-in versions of Minnetonka Audio’s SurCode for Dolby E encoder and decoder software. Merging staff will be conducting one-on-one demonstrations of the enhanced workflow for Dolby E in Pyramix on stand #460 during this year’s New York AES show. Using the VST version of Minnetonka’s SurCode for Dolby E Encoder, Pyramix owners may now encode Dolby E audio files directly from a multichannel Pyramix session. Similarly, the SurCode for Dolby E Decoder VST plug-in may be used directly on the Pyramix project timeline to decode a two-channel Dolby E file into multichannel surround audio information. Decoding can even be carried out in real time on a live input (analogue, AES-EBU, TDIF, ADAT or MADI) if required. Full management of Dolby E metadata is available to Pyramix through the Minnetonka plug-ins, including manual metadata entry, and metadata may be imported from XML files or WAV files containing a DBMD chunk. These settings can be saved as plug-in template presets for recall and further use. “SurCode for Dolby E is the obvious choice for Pyramix users wishing to use or output Dolby E files,” says Claude Cellier, President of Merging Technologies. “We are confident this development will prove very popular with our broadcast customers.”
