News P+S TECHNIK launches new professional 3D Stereo Rigs (3/9/2009) The latest productions with the 3D Stereo Rig can be watched on IBC’s Big Screen on Saturday, 5 pm The “old” idea of 3D cinematography combined with the progress in technology provides great possibilities to bring forward the art of 3D photography. Many new and powerful tools and solutions that allow for a gap-free stereoscopic 3D workflow from image capturing, postproduction to projection or even the home entertainment are available. The ease-of-use features of the newly developed 3D Stereo Rigs clear a path for artists and film-makers to explore, utilize and differentiate themselves and their products by effectively shooting and delivering professional 3D stereoscopic imagery in a cost-effective manner. The former domain of highly specialized stereographers is now available to all cinematographers. With the very new 3D Rigs for all applications and shooting situations from P+S TECHNIK you can create 3D stereo films without the limitations of former systems. Take the cameras and lenses you want – the 3D Rigs support the most common digital cameras – from HDV to 4k. Sophisticated calibration-mechanisms allow adjusting the two cameras very accurate and easily – that saves valuable time on set. Several 3D Rigs for different applications from P+S TECHNIK will be launched at the IBC 2009, booth 11.E28. The 3D Rigs master all kinds of applications you are used to from 2D recording: Shoot with a tripod, on a crane or even with a steadycam. This year you have the chance to enjoy some of the latest 3D productions made with P+S TECHNIK 3D tools in the IBC cinema on Saturday, 5 pm. Add the third dimension to your films. At moment it supports SI-2K Mini Camera Head, RED One, Sony HDW-750, -790, Sony HDC X3000, Sony PMW-EX3, Digital SLR cameras like Canon EOS 5D as well as a wide range of lenses, such as DigiPrimes, Arri UltraPrimes and MasterPrimes as well as Cooke lenses. A larger mirror box for very wide angle lenses is available from Autumn/winter 2009. The motorization offered in combination with the Cmotion and Chrosziel lens control system allows to remote control all relevant adjustments of 3D Stereo Rig and cameras, e.g. making it possible to realise continuous and smooth changes of the interaxial and the angulation of cameras on air. P+S TECHNIK now offers the 3D Stereo Rig motorization in combination with the Cmotion and Chrosziel lens control system. Standard and medium size mirror boxes are now compatible to Chrosziel filter stages. Thus, another bridge is being built towards existing film accessories that copes with even the highest requirements. This is another step in order to make stereoscopic 3D productions as effective and comfortable as 2D projects. The user-friendly modular filter holder system allows even cascading multiple filters if necessary (eg. ND and IR Cut). Medium Size Mirror Box for more wide-angle shots. In order to cope with the professional needs of using even wider lenses P+S Technik has expanded its product line of the Universal 3D Rig. The larger and new designed Medium Cine Box is available from IBC 2009 and strengthens compatibility towards the use of wide-angle lenses in comparison to the - already very successful - Standard Mirror Box. It’s completely manufactured from Carbon fibre and is also compatible with the existing components. Heavy duty camera adaptor for use of larger cameras with the Universal Mirror Rig. In order to carry more cameras of the high end class a completely new and unique camera adaptor has been developed. The extremely stiff and stable design allows going into 3D productions with even the heaviest professional cameras available. Like all products out of the Universal Rig series this camera adaptor is interoperable with all components so that furthermore all mirror boxes and camera kits up to HDV can be used. Integrated Roll adjustment in heavy-duty camera adaptor. To precisely adjust the two cameras in direction to each other a roll adjustment function were integrated in the camera adaptor. This function allows compensating even the smallest “torsions” of the camera’s sensor (e.g. occurring due to larger production tolerances). A loss afflicted rotation of the frame during postproduction becomes obsolete. Thus money can be saved and preserves the native resolution of the image. To provide the information needed in order to shoot good 3D P+S TECHNIK cooperates with partners like 3D Consult and Inition conducting 3D workshops for DoPs and Stereographers.
