DVS Focuses On 2k Real-Time Processes For Digital Intermediates (16/7/2004)
Digital intermediates (DI): processing uncompressed HD and 2K data in real time is DVS' focus at this year's IBC. At stand 7.521 (hall 7) DVS will be presenting further developments of the real-time editing and finishing system CLIPSTER and the digital disk recorders Pronto2K and ProntoHD. The latter form the basis of a real-time workflow in a SAN environment.
At center stage of the DVS presentation stands the multi-resolution platform CLIPSTER. Positioned as the central online system it offers all DI processes from conforming to color correction - handling any format from SD to 2K in real-time. CLIPSTER records and plays up to 2K/24p/4:4:4/12 bit. At IBC DVS introduces an extension to the CLIPSTER timeline with multi-video-tracks. To improve operation, users can now edit and conform using an unlimited number of tracks. In addition, CLIPSTER boasts an open plug-in interface. Partner companies can now write effects and other plug-ins, which integrate seamlessly into CLIPSTER's software. Currently available are film restoration plug-ins from HS-ART.
DVS has renewed its disk recorder line up presenting Pronto2K and ProntoHD. The user interface of both systems is similar in structure to that of CLIPSTER. Thanks to storing data in the Windows file system, file sequences can be processed and managed just as easily as on the editing system. ProntoHD prices begin at EUR 25.000 for the basic 2U version. Pronto2K comes in a 4U case and handles data up to 2K/24P/4:4:4/10bit.
Both of these DVS products are file-based systems and therefore ideal for operation in a SAN environment. This offers several users parallel real-time access on a shared storage. At the IBC stand visitors will be able to see CLIPSTER and Pronto2K working in a SAN environment.
