At IBC 2004, Avid Technology Europe Ltd. and Digidesign, a division of Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVID), will showcase a range of new content creation and management tools. The show will see the European launch of Avid(r) Media Factory, a range of solutions for smaller broadcasters; AirSpeed(tm), the new revolutionary video ingest and broadcast playback server; Avid Xpress(r) Studio, the all-in-one integrated suite of video editing, audio production, 3-D animation, visual effects and DVD authoring applications with professional production hardware; and Avid DNxHD(tm), the new 8- and 10-bit HD encoding technology that enables collaborative HD postproduction with the same storage bandwidth and capacity requirements as SD files. Digidesign will also show Digidesign(r) AVoption(tm)|V10, a professional 10-bit video I/O peripheral for Pro Tools|HD(r) systems that is fully compatible with media files created with an Avid Media Composer(r) Adrenaline(tm) system.
The theme at this year's event is 'Sharing Your Passion'. "We are passionate about this business - it's the only thing we do, and we want to share our knowledge and enthusiasm to help people to create the best content they can," said Graham Sharp, VP European Sales & Operations, Avid Technology Europe Ltd. "Now, even the smallest facility or broadcaster can take advantage of our shared media solutions, while high definition is no longer cost prohibitive as we plan to offer support for a variety of HD formats from Avid Xpress Pro upwards. We can support and nurture customers as their needs evolve, whether they are students or award-winning film makers, videographers or broadcasters."
Sharing Your Passion: THE STAND - Hall 7 Stand 931 Visitors to the stand will get a fast-paced look at new workflows, and see how Avid DNxHD technology brings HD capabilities across the Avid product line. In addition to stage demonstrations and guest speakers, customers will have hands-on access to Avid Xpress Studio, while Digidesign will showcase Digidesign AVoption|V10. Other key tools on display will include AirSpeed, Digidesign Pro Tools|HD(r) and the Avid Unity(tm) LANshare EX shared storage solution.
Sharing Your Passion: THE BROADCAST BUS STOP
In an area adjacent to the stand, Avid will underline its commitment to delivering scaleable solutions to broadcasters of all sizes.
Avid's Broadcast Bus will make a stop at the show, having visited many major European broadcasters during the year, to demonstrate comprehensive workflows for news, sport and postproduction. At IBC 2004, these workflows will also be demonstrated at HD resolutions, courtesy of Avid DNxHD technology.
Next to the Broadcast Bus will be the Avid Media Factory, a range of pre-configured solutions which gives smaller broadcasters affordable access to a complete collaborative workflow. These scaleable solutions are based around the Avid Unity LANshare shared storage system and all configurations will include AirSpeed, the recently-introduced video ingest and broadcast playback server that is designed to combine traditional broadcast server functionality with streamlined digital news production workflow. The AirSpeed system features VTR-like local operation with front panel monitoring, full remote programmability and control, and complete interoperability with the Avid Unity for News family of media network solutions, as well as with Avid's nonlinear editing systems.
Sharing Your Passion: THE BALCONY
Avid and Digidesign will hold private appointments for visitors to see their high-end postproduction tools in the balcony suites. Systems available are Avid DS Nitris(tm), Avid Media Composer Adrenaline with the HD expansion option and SOFTIMAGE(r)|XSI(r)v.4.0, as well as Digidesign ICON, the integrated console environment, and Avid Media Factory. There will also be a demonstration of Avid DNxHD technology showing comparisons between HD formats, explorations of flexible postproduction workflows, and a Professional Services clinic where customers can discuss their unique workflow in confidence and find out how to become more efficient.
