Kodak Display Manager and Quantel iQ Partnership Eliminates Guesswork From the DI Suite (17/9/2004)

Kodak and Quantel are delighted to announce that the KODAK Display Manager System is scheduled for release on the Quantel iQ Digital Intermediate system in October 2004.

The KODAK Display Manager System provides a calibrated display in the iQ suite that accurately reproduces the print film look. Using Kodak Color Science, the system generates a custom 3D look up table (3D LUT) specific to the display device(s) used in the suite. iQ loads the 3D LUT generated by KODAK Display Manager System into its purpose-built hardware and applies it in realtime to the data for the monitor or digital projector. As iQ is the only system with the power to work on the actual data, not proxies, this approach provides real confidence in the DI suite that 'what you see is what you get', allowing users of KODAK Display Manager System and iQ to get it right the first time every time.

"This partnership between Quantel and KODAK provides exactly what customers have been asking for; a practical and accurate calibration method for the DI suite," said Quantel Marketing Manager, Post & DI, Steve Owen. "It will save our customers time and help them make more money from the growing business of DI."

"KODAK is pleased to work with industry leaders like Quantel to bring post production tools to a new level of calibration and consistency with the print film look," commented Bob Mayson, KODAK Vice President Entertainment Imaging and General Manager Image Capture Product Group. "KODAK Display Manager System is an important contribution to the ever evolving hybrid workflow that is becoming an essential part of post production."

Quantel will ship KODAK Display Manager System software with every iQ.
