Inscriber Delivers Direct Control Interface For SD/HD Simultaneous CG Graphics (17/9/2004)
Inscriber(R), a leading global provider of broadcast solutions, announced today the launch of an innovative workflow using Inscriber Direct Control to manage an Inscriber Inca AutoCG SD(TM) and an Inca AutoCG HD(TM) to simultaneously deliver Standard Definition and High Definition graphics. The result is greater efficiency through the elimination of manual graphic conversion and improved graphic quality. The worldwide launch of Inscriber's innovative broadcast solution is at IBC on stand #7.211.
Currently, broadcasters simulcasting Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) graphics must either create their original graphics in SD and upconvert to HD, or create their original graphics in HD and downconvert to SD. Regardless of the previous process chosen, the result is one compromised graphic that is adjusted to fit the target output.
Inscriber's Direct Control interface provides the industry's first operator control for both an Inca AutoCG SD and Inca AutoCG HD. Now the common graphic elements for program content are viewable and editable from a single control application.Graphics for SD or HD are designed to fit their intended form factor and rendered at the correct resolution, preserving a high quality image. Once the operator has made any modifications output is simultaneous, on command, in both formats.
Inscriber Inca AutoCG is the most capable and flexible networked graphics solution available, providing rich HD or SD Inscriber graphics and clips at the command of standard and MOS-enabled Newsroom Automation Systems, or Direct Control. In news and sports broadcasts, live events and other template-intensive programming applications, Inca AutoCG allows a cost-effective player platform to be integrated in the signal path for easy play-out of graphics, animations and clips.
"Inscriber's Inca AutoCG solution recognizes that SD and HD have different characteristic and that standard conversion methods compromise the on-air look of broadcasters," says Alex Wackley, Senior Product Manager of Inscriber."Choosing Inscriber's AutoCG solution means broadcasters can simultaneously broadcast properly formatted SD graphics and properly formatted HD graphics Ð without any compromises."
