JVC Announces Versatile Multi-Format Monitors (17/9/2004)
JVC announces the addition of its new high definition (HD) digital TV (DTV) monitors to its broadcast, facilities and production monitor range.
The 17-inch DT-V1710CG and the 19-inch DT-V1910CG are HD or standard definition (SD) monitors. They have three expansion slots that can accommodate any combination of optional input cards. The inclusion of audio monitoring capabilities allows producers and broadcasters to confirm sound performance, enabling the monitors to be true single-monitor solutions.
"The new JVC monitors offer today's users a single-monitor solution," said John Carpenter, general manager, marketing services at JVC Professional Europe Ltd. "Multi-format functionality and the audio level monitoring capability make the DT-V1710CG and the DT-V1910CG future-proof as well as a good investment. In the move towards the digital age, customers can use these monitors to suit their changing display needs. They can also address audio issues rather than add another display or separate audio unit to their lineup!"
Monitoring audio levels on screen is an important and desired monitoring feature for producers or broadcasters, confirming that audio is broadcast. When activated, the DT-V1710CG and DT-V1910CG audio monitoring features display the audio levels from the audio embedded in the SDI and HD -SDI on the screen, generating audio level meters that move back and forth with the sound. Without having to add another component to their systems, any studio, broadcast facility, remote video truck or video transmission location can monitor audio levels to ensure sound is being broadcast of acceptable quality and quickly address audio issues should they arise.
All HD DTV monitors feature natural flat CRTs with user-selectable standard 4:3 or wide 16:9 variable aspect ratios. Horizontal resolution delivers more than 900 TV lines for well-defined pictures.
Three input/output option card bays are provided, that can be populated with up to three I/O modules, including; Composite Video, Y/C, Analog Component, RGB/RGBHV, SD-SDI, HD-SDI, with associated audio support where required. These cards allow customers to take advantage of most formats that are available in the marketplace, including HD, SD, NTSC, PAL, 480p, 1080i, 720p or 24pSF cinema configurations. Both units offer rack-mountable configuration, perfect for mobile applications, post-production, facility quality control and monitoring use.
On-screen, menu-driven operation makes the DT-V1710CG and DT-1910CG ideal for a wide range of professional applications. This easy-to-operate menu provides quick access to many features, including aspect ratio select, color temperature select and white balance adjustment. Memory storage and recall is an added benefit that provides instant recall to achieve the desired picture setting. Control lock is another feature that prevents accidental changes during production. In addition the DT-V1710CG and DT-V1910CG features wired/wireless remote and tally.
The DT-V1910 and DT/V1710CG utilises a high voltage/deflection separation circuit, constant current feedback for anti-blooming and multi-format video capability. Basic features are: area and center markers, underscan, pulse cross, blue check/color off, manual degaussing and GPI/RS-232C in/out remote control.
Among other monitors to be seen on the JVC stand at IBC is the new 17-inch TFT flat screen monitor, model LM-17G.
