Blackmagic Design announces Workgroup Videohub (21/9/2004)
Now all post production facilities can afford to connect everyone together in both HD and SD with a professional routing switcher.
Today Blackmagic Design announced Workgroup Videohub™, a professional routing switcher, that features low cost, dual rate HD and SD compatibility, and ease of setup and use.
Workgroup Videohub(tm) eliminates manual cable patching by connecting everyone together into a fully featured professional routing switcher, which previously only large television companies could afford.
Workgroup Videohub(tm) has 12 fully independent dual rate SDI inputs and 24 independent SDI outputs that auto-switch between HD-SDI and Standard Definition SDI. 12 of the Workgroup Videohub’s outputs are dedicated for monitoring, or to connect consumer VHS and DVD recorder dubbing decks via analog converters such as DeckLink Multibridge(tm).
Compatibility with all SDI based equipment is assured and all inputs and outputs are compliant with SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 259M, SMPTE 296M, SMPTE 372M and ITU-R BT.656.
With Workgroup Videohub(tm) users can run Standard Definition workflow today, then add HDTV equipment as they transition into the future. Workgroup Videohub™ handles mixed Standard Definition and HD-SDI equipment connectivity on the same router.
"Videohub was developed to fill a desperate need by a part of our user base who are medium to smaller post production facilities where cable patching becomes a nightmare when more than a few users are all trying to access shared equipment such as broadcast decks" Says Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic Design. "We think with Workgroup Videohub(tm), many users will enjoy the workflow benefits of adding a professional routing switcher to their facility for the first time."
Workgroup Videohub(tm) is available now via Blackmagic Design Authorized Resellers worldwide for a recommended retail price of US$4,995.
