Ciprico Unveils New NAS Storage Solutions at IBC 2004 (24/9/2004)

Next Generation Products Offer Best Performance for Price for Broadcast and Post Applications

Ciprico Inc. (NASDAQ: CPCI), a leading provider of performance oriented storage solutions for the broadcast industry, will showcase their newest products at IBC 2004.

Today, Ciprico announces the third member of its high performance, SATA-based NAS solution, the DiMeda 1724, which extends Ciprico's legacy of providing superior performance-based value to customers. With 9.6TB of capacity and over 300Mbytes of throughput, the DiMeda 1724 provides a high-capacity, high performance shared storage solution with the reliability characteristics required for the broadcast and post-production industries. By using SATA drives, Ciprico significantly reduces its customers' total cost of ownership.

In July 2004 Ciprico announced the DiMeda 10G, the world's fastest NAS, which enables collaborative uncompressed HD video editing using an Ethernet LAN. The DiMeda 1724 leverages the DiMeda 10G hardware and software design, but provides four 1Gigabit Ethernet server connections. This allows customers to easily integrate the DiMeda 1724 into existing Ethernet networks to support collaborative editing of SD and lower resolution HD streams.

When customers are ready to implement 10 Gigabit Ethernet, the DiMeda 1724 can be upgraded to a DiMeda 10G by replacing the GbE cards with a 10 GbE card to increase overall system performance to nearly 400 Mbytes/second. This preserves the customer's storage investment and provides a migration path to support the highest resolution, uncompressed HD video streams. The DiMeda 10G will be exhibited in the Digital Rapids booth (7.641).

Additionally, Ciprico's award-winning DiMeda 1700, which won a prestigious STAR "best-of-show" award at the 2003 International Broadcasters Association (IBC) Exhibition and Conference, will also be featured at IBC 2004. The first product in the DiMeda SATA-based family, the 1700 has been enhanced with greater capacity, faster performance, and additional fault tolerance. It provides a compact, complete storage system ideal for sharing content between multiple video editing workstations and applications. Ciprico will demonstrate how the DiMeda 1700 can enhance the digital media workflow in the Vela booth (1.423) and the Incite booth (7.210).
