Vizrt to Demo Latest Real-Time HD Graphics Technology (8/2/2005)

Cost-effective, HD CG, Viz|Trio supports all HD formats and features powerful internal compositing tool

Vizrt, the world's leading producer of real-time 2D and true 3D graphics system for TV, will showcase its entire product line, already on-air with broadcasters throughout the world, highlighting the company's cost-effective HDTV solutions at the NAB 2005 convention in April. Among the company's new offerings: an HD version of the Viz|Trio(TM) character generator system; a highly localized version of Viz|Weather 3D(TM) software specially designed for local weather forecasts, and the next generation version of Viz|Content Pilot(TM) content management software integrated with Viz|Trio.

Others products on display include: Viz|Ticker(TM) with the Viz|Ad(TM) feature for real-time advertising; Viz|Arena(TM), software designed specially for live virtual sports graphics; Viz|Virtual Studio(TM) along with the lower cost 2D virtual studio software, Viz|Ibis(TM); and Viz|Engine(TM), the core of Vizrt technology, which supports NVIDIA's latest generation of graphics cards with up to 10 times the performance of the previous generation graphics hardware.

"Vizrt's product line up at this year's NAB reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting broadcasters with the most powerful, easy-to-use and cost-effective HD solutions available, with an efficient, streamlined workflow model," said Isaac Hersly, President, Vizrt Americas. "With over 100 real-time HD graphics systems sold to the top Japanese networks and countless HD customers worldwide, Vizrt has more HD installations than any other graphics solution provider. Our systems handle SD or HD graphics, and upgrading to HD has been available for years. Our new software revisions directly incorporate feedback from our customers. We're thrilled to be able to offer them this new range of systems at NAB 2005."

Viz|Trio, Vizrt's HD/SD, real-time 3D character generator and graphics system, has been substantially enhanced with the release of Viz|Trio 2.2. The new version supports all HD formats and includes a new, easy-to-use internal compositing tool. Pre-defined graphic elements and animation are readily available within Viz|Trio 2.2, enabling fast, template-based design recreation. Viz|Trio's NLE plug-ins now also support Pinnacle's Liquid(TM) Edition and Liquid blue(TM) editing software, as well as Avid's editing software using AVX (Avid Visual Extensions). And with its "Look Ahead" transition logic, Viz|Trio provides highly "intelligent" graphics, for workflow efficiency during production. Users can stack arbitrary pages and automatically create seamless transitions, using just one video output channel.

The newest version of Viz|Trio features a new MOS interface option that can be used in conjunction with the Viz|Content Pilot ActiveX which support all the major Newsroom systems such as: Avid's iNews, Octopus, ENPS, Dalet+, OpenMedia, Newstar, Pronews, and others. Working through the content management software, Viz Content|Pilot, journalists can directly add graphic elements using Content|Pilot templates. CG operators may still control playout of the graphics elements through Viz|Trio from the control room.

A new version of the company's Viz|Weather 3D real-time weather software for the creation and playout of weather-related graphics, will also be highlighted at the Vizrt booth. The software, Version 1.6, has been updated to meet the specific demands of stations reporting local weather events. Through strategic partner relationships with localized weather data service providers, the newest version of Viz|Weather provides unrivalled design and up-to-the-minute graphic support to local weathercasters.

Viz|Weather allows users to change weather data and graphics in seconds. A separation between data and graphics representation allows meteorologists and weather presenters to edit and control the broadcast from a dedicated control system, without having to edit graphics properties like temperature, humidity, and wind speed. Weather data, such as temperature, wind speeds and direction, weather symbols, 3D maps, and radar maps are displayed automatically with corresponding graphic elements in real-time, using pre-made templates.

The newest version of Viz|Content Pilot, Version 4.1, will also be on hand in Vizrt's NAB booth. The newly designed software includes full support of Vizrt's "Look Ahead" transition logic, enabling seamless and automatic transitions between multiple layers of graphics. An intelligent template wizard provides built-in transition logic, enabling journalists to quickly input and update graphics content.

Viz|Content Pilot, Version 4.1, also includes a multi-user playlist with real time updates. Multiple producers can update the playlist simultaneously. The newly designed playlist also features snapshot icon previews of all elements in the list. A new newsroom component user interface provides direct access between Viz|Content Pilot and all major newsroom systems, such as Avid's INews, Octopus, ENPS, Dalet+, OpenMedia, Newstar, Pronews, and other systems supporting MOS. It also integrates with all major automation systems, including Omnibus, Harris, and Aveco. The built-in macro command feature is continuously updated with additional macros, so that users can create custom shortcuts and control Viz|Content Pilot remotely.

A new user interface to the Vizrt Object Store provides a shared database of video clips and stills that may be accessed from all Vizrt applications. For ease of use, the search result is kept on the left-hand side of the user interface, allowing stills and clips to be easily dragged and dropped into the template.
