Panasonic Unveils Studio-Quality 17" Widescreen LCD Monitor (18/2/2005)

Panasonic Broadcast introduced today the AJ-PCS060, a ruggedized, portable hard disk unit with a P2 card slot that quickly transfers the content of P2 cards to an internal hard disk drive.

The 2.5" 60GB hard disk drive can hold the contents of up to 15 4GB P2 cards, and the entire contents of a 4GB P2 card can be transferred to the internal hard disk drive in approximately four minutes. After the P2 content has been transferred, the P2 store can connect to an NLE or Server Ingest PC via a USB 2.0 interface and appears as an external disk drive.

In the field, the AJ-PCS060 serves as an aggregation and transport device, storing the contents of P2 cards and minimizing the number of P2 cards needed. Back at the studio, it serves as a high-speed drive for transferring video into a station's Local Area Network (LAN) or nonlinear editing system to speed access to the recorded content.

For quick and easy operation, the AJ-PCS060 simply has a large start button. The drive also includes LED indicators for copy status, drive capacity and battery life For NAB 2005, Panasonic has introduced the BT-LH1700W, a broadcast-quality 16:9 high definition/standard definition LCD monitor for studio and field applications. Displaying brilliant, highly color saturated images, the 17" space-saving, widescreen monitor produces exceptional color reproduction and gradation and allows the user to display widescreen high definition images in their natural resolution.

The multi-format BT-LH1700 offers a 1280 x 768 pixel WXGA-resolution, an amazingly fast response time, and faithfully reproduces up to 16.7 million colors. The 17" flat panel monitor offers a wide viewing angle of 176 degrees vertical and horizontal. It offers an array of input/outputs including SDI, Y/Pb/Pr, RGB, composite and S-video, as well as an audio input.

Thin and lightweight, the rack-mountable BT-LH1700 was designed to simplify demanding high definition and standard definition production tasks. It is equipped with intuitive, easy-to-use manual controls -- with independent control knobs for brightness, contrast, chroma, phase -- needed for video production and broadcast applications. The monitor incorporates a RG tally display.

The monitor displays 1080/24PsF, 1080i, 720P and 480i video format inputs. The unit also includes a built-in stereo speaker and a VESA mount.

The BT-LH1700 will be available in the Third Quarter 2005.
